Game overview

Jumping Box asks you to move a block you cannot touch directly. The block has to reach a red flag, and your only tool is a ball you fire into the level, which ricochets off walls and shoves the block whichever way it strikes. Early attempts are guesswork; once the bounce angles start making sense, the levels turn into deliberate trick shots.

This title is best suited to players who enjoy working out bounce angles rather than steering directly.

How to play Jumping Box

  1. Find the red flag the block has to reach
  2. Look at the walls and work out how a shot will rebound
  3. Aim and fire a ball into the level
  4. Watch it ricochet and push the block along
  5. Repeat until the block sits on the flag

Controls

  • Mouse or tap: aim and release to fire a ball into the level

Objectives and failure conditions

Objectives

  • Move the block onto the red flag using only the balls you fire and the walls they bounce off.

The run ends or fails when

  • Knocking the block into a position it cannot be recovered from means restarting the level.

Gameplay mechanics

  • Fired balls rebound off level walls and transfer force to the block on contact.
  • The block is never controlled directly, so every movement is indirect.
  • Wall geometry defines the solution, which makes reading angles the core skill.

Device compatibility

Desktop browsers

Mouse or trackpad: Jumping Box loads straight into the page on desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari with no download or plugin. Controls used: Mouse or tap.

Touch controls: Jumping Box is driven by pointer input, which maps to tap and drag on a touch screen.

Tips for Jumping Box

  • Aim at the wall, not at the block; the rebound is what actually moves it
  • Small nudges beat hard shots when the flag is close
  • If a level looks impossible, look for the bank shot off the far wall

What worked well and what did not

Pros

  • The indirect control makes a simple goal genuinely interesting
  • Understanding the physics feels earned rather than given
  • Levels are short and restart cleanly

Cons

  • The first levels are frustrating before the bounce logic clicks
  • A stray shot can force a restart with no warning
